Materials:

Step 1

Place the craft suede onto a ruler, then place your buttons onto the craft suede to figure out spacing. Mark where you want to sew on the Swarovski crystal buttons.

Step 1

Step 2

Using the crystal applicator tool, set the two halves of the snap into place—one half on either end of the craft suede. Make sure to have each half of the snap facing the right way so the ends meet correctly.

Step 2

For instructions on using the crystal applicator tool, watch this Create Your Style video.

Step 3

Cut an 18“ length of thread and add a needle to the end first off the spool. Just to the right of your first mark on the suede, pierce your needle through the material, working from front to back. Leave a 2-3” tail on the front of the suede. Bring the needle back up through the material, just to the left of the same mark.

Step 3

Step 4

Add a button to the needle and slide it down the thread to the surface of the suede. Pass the needle through the other hole in the crystal button and through to the back of the suede.

Step 4a

Repeat stitching through the suede and the button 3-4 times to secure it in place.

Step 4b

Step 5

On the last pass through the suede and the button, exit your needle on the front left side, behind the button.

Using the working thread and the tail, tie a surgeon’s knot that is hidden behind the button. Tie the knot securely so the button is secure and stays close to the suede.Step 5

Step 6

Using the ladder stitch, form a row of bugle beads that is 21 beads long. Get instructions on the ladder stitch.

Place the row of bugle beads against the craft suede between two buttons. Bring the ends of the bugle bead row together then stitch to secure the row into a ring.

Step 6

Weave the working thread so it meets up with the tail thread; form a knot using the two thread ends then weave one end into the beadwork. Trim the excess thread as close to the beads as possible. Add the needle to the other end of the thread and weave the thread into the beadwork then trim.

Repeat with the remaining buttons and bugle beads.
